One Year of the Sun 04/21/2011
I think I may cry... Today marks one year since the official First Light press conference, unveiling SDO's spectacular images of the sun. I can't believe it's been an entire year, yet part of me feels like it's been longer. I had the pleasure of leading 15 tweeps through the Air and Space Museum, and then to the Newseum where we sat in the front row for the press conference. My daddy was there too. It was quite a day. I even wore heels. For a lot of engineers it was proof that their baby was healthy, for us outreach folk it was the beginning of a new phase of our jobs, and for the scientists it was the dawn of a new area in heliophysics. One I am proud to have been a part of. I've gathered a few links that show the scope and magnitude of the past year, though they don't really convey the depth of influence this job has had on my life. Though working with SDO I've met more people and done more things than I could have imagined (but that's another blog post). If you were there, or are a fan of SDO, please treat the comments like a guest book/birthday card. Thank you everyone for being part of the SDO story.
