Barefoot running 08/17/2010
![]() I did an experiment yesterday. I did my one mile "around the block" run barefoot. It was awesome. Though I'm not sure I can make a habit of it. My curiosity started with this article: Are expensive shoes a waste of money? It seems that it's the organic way to run, but still has some cons. In my single barefoot running experience I found this: it was much more - tactile. I felt connected to the ground, and strangely like I was playing as a kid, not running as an adult. I liked hopping over the sticks on the sidewalk and feeling the slap of the pavement and the squish of the grass as I chugged by. On the other side, I felt like I was going slower than usual, I missed looking up as I ran, and I kinda missed the heavy hug that my shoes give my feet. I'll definitely be trying it again (in the daytime only).
